Well actually I have to disagree, Zecily.
English has a great influence on the way the kids talk.
I also think that English is a lot of fun. Movies, books, TV shows.. If you surround yourself with English, you'll be good at it.
A life without it is not imaginable, but that's just how I feel. Funny thing: It's not a foreign language anymore. I don't have to translate in my head, sometimes I think in English... whenever I talk to myself: English. Talking to my cats? Yes. In English!
Sometimes it feels like my English is better than my German^^
But when you have a bad teacher, even the best subject can suck. In our school there was one English teacher who was nice & capable. The other ones are nice OR capable.
