I probably began like all of you. Began in 5th grade highschool. Was blessed with a bunch of good teachers, was in english LK. That means, nine years of english at school, two of them hardcore.

Then, I was on holiday in english speaking countries for a couple of times. I think, I've been to London at least five times. In '99 I began reading literature in english. I read approximately 20-30 english books a year. In my job, I am talking and writing english half the time, as I am working in a global team with many foreign colleagues. I think, that is about it. I get along...

I was not "blessed" with good teachers and at commercial college and vocational school I haven't had english lessons

I would like to read english books, but it is to heavy for me.
Of course I read HP in english, it was okay. Then I tried the biography of Robbie Williams and failed. There were to many things I don't understand.

ppfffff. Nothing for me. I mean, I like it to speak in english, but not the whole time. I think i must read the potter books in english too I've heard that their are many translationmistakes.

when hermine talks about bouillabaise ron said in the german book: Good that we have you or something like that. but in the english book is it different

I think Bless you is not Godd to have you, right? I read it somewhere in the Forum.

perhaps it is like the tv-series.
with the translation into german, "geht oftmals der Witz verloren".
There are word-plays that cannot translate into another language.
It's just funny in english.

maybe, but i think it is not to hard to translate bless you in gesundheit.
