Hi! I'm new in this thread but I like the idea! If anybody cares: my day was just an ordinary day. Really boring and nothing exciting happened. Only the weather. It is so cold!

My English is not the best, but I think that page is a good idea!!!!!
I can`t read books in english yet, but Ilike watching films in english!!!!
Often the voices are better then!!!!!
I hope, i didn`t make so much mistakes!!!!

No, Winky, that is quite good English for your age.
Do you understand the movies, when you watch them in English?
Or do you read German subtitles?

I watch them witch subtitles!!!!
But I watched a film with a very bad translation:
They translated only every fifht sentence.
But I didn`t want to watch it in english, because the voices were so terrible!!!!

It is very hard to translate every sentence, if there is a lot of dialogue in a movie.
You must be able to read everything as well, and hardly anybody can read as fast as one can listen, so if you offer subtitles, they usually are a lot shorter than the original.
What kind of movie was it?

to Winky: i'm watching english films too and i prefer to watch them without any subtitles becaus you're listening more to the spoken words without subtitles...

to read books isn't much more difficult than watch the movies...

I'm reading HP6 in english now and i don't have any problems to understand it...(maybe that's because of i read the book 3 times in german before :lol:

English, *hmpf* I have to write an essay in english, about universitys and their advantages and disadvantages.

And I haven't got ideas...

It ought to be about 250 words and yoaa... :lol:

The film was called "babylon5, the gathering".
The makrs of the film didn`t have so much money!!!
But the subtitles wasen`t shorter, they were not there!!!!!
Iwatched some other Babylon5 films and there the translation was much better!!!!
